Learn Killer Filmmaking Skills On Lynda.com

I’ve always been an avid learner. I haven’t read a fiction book since college, but have an insatiable appetite for nonfiction.  Everything from business & finance, to filmmaking & web design. I read it all. I also frequent google and youtube for how-to videos when I need to learn something. This is a great resource of information, but it tends to get overwhelming trying to find exactly what I’m looking for. I heard about Lynda.com a long time ago. Back when it was a fledgling start-up, and had a very limited selection of training videos, I checked it out – but wasn’t impressed. Boy have things changed. Being in education – I recently received a subscription to Lynda.com, and it’s soooooo much better. The selection of training has grown far beyond “software only” tutorials. It is setup much like a Netflix queue – where you can add a series of tutorials that you want to watch. A few series in my current queue are: Shooting with the Canon T3i, DSLR Video Tips, Color Correction in FCPX, and After Effects CS6 Essential Training – just to name a few. And these tutorials are no joke – for example – Richard Harrington is the host of the DSLR Video series. He is well respected in the industry and has a huge presence online. These teachers are serious professionals. Awesome. You can find virtually any and every piece of software on Lynda.com. There are hundreds – not only in the creative realm – but also in office and business like Microsoft Office and Quickbooks. Want to learn how to use Twitter, or market your business on Facebook? Done. Need help getting the most out of your iPhone? Wow. There is weeks worth of material in my queue – and the scary part is – they keep adding more. Last thing to touch on that seals the deal for me – there’s an app for that. Yes, you can take Lynda.com on the go with you anywhere, and have access to your queue via smartphone or iPad etc..
